Adidas makes a C O M E B A C K.

Growing up in the 90’s, Adidas was always a relevant brand of cool. Whether it was the themed tanks, the gym bags, or the sneakers, we knew the adidas logo as one we wanted to outshine our friends with. Recently in 2015, some may say Adidas took a dark turn in becoming a less demanded brand by millennials and the new generation. I for one was shocked seeing the Adidas brand turning up in Walmart stores across the U.S.

Whatever the reason for the shift to chain stores, as well as a price decrease, Adidas is still one of the most well known brands of the century, and certainly one I still represent. In recent months, I’ve seen a comeback of the brand in many so-called “hipster” outlets, such as: Urban Outfitters, Tumblr blogs of hipster and retro fashions, and many clothing and apparel apps. I think this could go even further into true hipster style. The California, surfer-beach vibe of local artisans and even the pretenders, isn’t fading anytime soon. Reaching this market directly as a beach/carefree brand could be extremely beneficial to Adidas. Urban Outfitters targets a huge population in this day and age, whether typical young adults, musicians, artists, and people just trying to fit the hipster image while they discover themselves. I for one love seeing a retro brand re-modernized when I walk into a store, or surf the web and scroll through apps for design ideas, and figuring out what’s trendy and stylish when it comes to creating a brand or designing a creative idea that is current and relative. Specifically, as a musician it’s always important to keep your brand and style image as original yet as current as you can. Whether we are brainstorming music video ideas, or creating a poster for a local show, I M A G E is super important. The Adidas brand sticks with me as being relevant and I enjoy seeing it pop up continuously in my searches for what people are diggin these days.
